On August 8, 1899, Benjamin Thomas, a 16 year old Black man was lynched from a lamppost in Alexandria, on the corner of King and Fairfax Streets. On August 8, 2021, the Alexandria Remembrance Project will commemorate this event with a ceremony starting at 7pm at Market Square.There will be singing, bell ringing, praying and the unveiling of a marker to remember this tragedy in our history. Join other Meeting House members promptly at 6:45pm in our courtyard to walk together to this important event.
