Youth Education

The Meeting House youth ministry includes not only Sunday morning Sunday School and evening youth fellowship but also includes opportunities for local and global service, for retreats, and for interschool friendships. The ministry focuses on being a welcoming safe space for individuals to ask and wrestle with questions on the intersection of faith and other responsibilities. Believing strongly that we are community, the ministry makes great efforts to stress how each individual brings unique gifts to the body of Christ. As part of the body, we are to care for one another.

Christian Education (Grades 6-12)

Presbyterian Youth Connection

College Students and Younger Adults

Week of March 7:

Wednesday, March 10: Intergenerational Lenten Study: The study will be “Gospel Portraits of Jesus,” which will explore what we can learn about Jesus through the various names and titles he is described by in the New Testament. Location: Jeff and Ann Irving’s Home: 311 Mansion Drive, 22302 Date/ Time: Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 pm (March 3, 10, 17, 24). This study will be lead by Alice Tewell. RSVP to Alice or on-line. You are also welcome to sign up for any of the other studies.

Sunday, March 14:

Sunday School (9:40-10:40): High Schoolers (Flounder 2b) will gather for the second of four classes on Sabbath as Resistance. Within the season of Lent and looking forward to the Youth lead Seder on April 11, this study will focus on this distinctive Jewish art practice and will consider how Sabbath keeping can reduce stress in our lives by making a bodily act of testimony to alternative values and resistance to pervading values and the assumptions behind those values. Middle Schoolers (Elliot House Library) will continue four week series on the Sermon on the Mount and the lessons we can take in our Lenten journey.

The Youth Praise Band will perform at the Heritage Luncheon (for long term members) right after church at about 12:30 pm. If you sang with the band at the Congregational Dinner, at Youth Sunday or if you have talked to Alice, you are welcome to participate!

Youth Fellowship (6-8 pm), Middle and High School: As we continue through the season of Lent, join as we continue to “Stress Out” with an evening of music, karaoke, and energizers.
