The Old Presbyterian Meeting House, founded in 1772, is one of the most historic and vibrant congregations in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. It maintains a robust program of worship, Christian education for all ages, fellowship, service, and community outreach.
The Meeting House is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church USA. Visitors are always welcome to worship here. For those who wish to explore becoming members—or to simply learn more about our church family—a multi-week Inquirer’s Class is offered several times a year during the Sunday education hour. A dynamic congregation of all ages, the Meeting House offers excellent Christian education for children pre-K through high school, an extensive youth program, and stimulating adult education. A variety of fellowship opportunities are available for people of all ages. Volunteer opportunities in Alexandria and other U.S. locations are numerous; international partnerships include Mexico, Kenya, Haiti, and Pakistan. Located in the heart of Old Town’s National Historic Landmark district, the churchyard includes a historic burial ground where rests the Revolutionary War Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. When George Washington died in 1799, four memorial services were held in the original Meeting House sanctuary.
