The Old Testament from Scratch.  Meets on Sundays, Sept. 14-Nov. 23 in Westminster Hall (Flounder House basement), from 9:40-10:40 am.  This weekly bible study provides an overview of the Old Testament, the biblical books that formed the scriptures for Jesus and his disciples.  No prior knowledge required.
You remember the old Bible stories from childhood about Adam and Eve in the Garden, Noah and the Flood, Moses and the Exodus, Joshua and the Battle of Jericho, and the exploits of King David.  But have you ever wondered where these stories come from, or what they have to say to Christians today?  Come join us for a stimulating introduction to the Old Testament that formed the Scriptures for Jesus and his first disciples.  The class will use the study book The Bible from Scratch:  The Old Testament for Beginners (WJK Press) by Donald Griggs, a well-known Presbyterian educator and author.  The class will survey the entire Old Testament, including the Books of the Law, the Historical Books from Joshua to Nehemiah, the Prophets and the Writings (e.g., Psalms, Proverbs).  Books are $13 and are available for purchase in the church office.  Class facilitators:  Lee Posey, Tom Roberts, Hal Collums.
