Meeting House Worshipers: Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

This Sunday:

Worship Services (10:00 am and 6:30 pm):  The summer schedule of a single morning worship service has begun.  The 10:00 am morning worship services will continue through August 31.  On Sundays in June and July, there will also be a more contemporary service at 6:30 pm in the evening, held in Heritage Hall.  Casual dress is encouraged for these evening services.

Christian Education: Classes do not meet over the summer.  Classes and Bridges to Worship will resume on September 7.

Wednesday Night Bible Study: The Letter of James. All are invited to this 6-week Bible study through July 30 (no class July 2) meeting in the Elliot House Conference Room from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.

Our Family-to-Family Mission: This line item in the operating budget assists members of the community in temporary financial need. In May, we assisted 85 families directly and about 40 more through support for the Queen Street Clinic. The mission assisted with 29 rent payments, 18 gas bills, 116 electric bills, 3 water bills, 14 prescriptions or medical supplies, and 5 miscellaneous excpenditures totaling $11,249.

Upcoming Events / Church News:

Youth: Youth do not meet over the summer. Happy summer!

Confirmation 2008-2009: Next year confirmation will be open to all youth in grades 8 and 9. For planning purposes we would like folks to let us know as soon as possible if they are intending to join the confirmation class. Please contact Priscilla Andre-Colton, D.C.E., for more information.

Yoga at the Meeting House – If you are looking for a different exercise routine, come to Yoga at the Meeting House this summer.  Banna Dunn will be offering free classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon in Heritage Hall for nine weeks.  Classes begin on July 3.  Bring a beach towel or yoga mat.  For more information contact Banna at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Celebration:  Married couples of all ages are welcome to join Celebration for its September kick-off social at 7:00 pm on Saturday, Sep 13, at the home of Gerry and Gloria Cooper.  Save the date!  More information to follow.

Ongoing Events:

First Sundays with the Stephen Ministers: Stephen Ministers host an informal time of fellowship on the first Sunday of each month for those who are experiencing a difficult or challenging time and would welcome a willing listener.  We meet in the Elliot House parlor following the 10:00 am service.  If you would like more information or would like to spend one-on-one time with a Stephen Minister, call Susan Grandy at 703-780-4134 or 703-299-4749.

Young Adult Game Night –All young adults in their twenties and thirties are invited to a gathering following evening worship on June 29^th.  We will meet in Fellowship Hall at approximately 7:30 pm for a light dinner, delicious homemade desserts and a full range of games from Guitar Hero to Taboo.  Come join us for this social event and get to know some of the other young adults in the congregation.
