CALLED MEETING OF THE CONGREGATION
THE OLD PRESBYTERIAN MEETING HOUSE
January 20, 2008
The meeting was called to order with prayer at 11:58 a.m. in the Sanctuary by the Moderator, the Rev. Dr. Robert Laha, Jr. The Moderator introduced the Clerk of Session to act as Secretary of the Meeting. It was noted that a quorum, which consists of 99 members, was present. The Moderator certified that proper notice of the meeting and the business to be conducted had been given; i.e., to elect the at-large members of the 2008-2009 Church Officer Nominating Committee.
Without objection, the Congregation authorized Session to approve minutes of all Congregational meetings for 2008.
The Moderator introduced Elder Paul Bea, representing chair of the 2007-2008 Church Officer Nominating Committee (CONC), Marsha Rhea. The Moderator informed the Congregation of Session’s designated representatives to the 2008-2009 CONC: Rebecca Bostick and James Foley. The Diaconate has chosen William Schreiner as its representative. Pursuant to the Book of Order, those members of the CONC chosen by the Congregation must constitute a majority of the committee.
Elder Bea then moved the nomination of the following six members as at-large members from the Congregation: Catherine Elmore, Edward (Sandy) Davis, Atilla Kocsis, Ann Lane, Kim Marin, and Debra McKeown. Following these nominations, the Moderator offered an opportunity for nominations from the floor. There were none. It was then seconded and approved unanimously to elect the six at-large nominees to the 2008-2009 CONC. With their election, the six at-large members constitute a majority of the CONC.
The Moderator thanked Elder Bea and the 2007-2008 CONC for their conscientious work over the last year.
The Moderator closed the meeting with prayer at 12:10 p.m.
