Each month, the Environmental Issues Advocacy Group shares ideas of how OPMH can better care for God’s creation.  The focus is on transportation this month. Have you ever considered commuting to work or running errands in a different manner? Taking public transit, biking, or walking are all ways to connect with your neighborhood while reducing your carbon footprint (amount of greenhouse gas (CO2) emitted through burning fossil fuels).

Help Wanted: This Sunday, following worship, a few people are needed to transfer bags of clothing from Fellowship Hall to Priscilla’s car for delivery to Arlington Presbyterian Clothes Closet.  Many hands will make fast work!  Meet at Lemonade on the Lawn.

Rally Day is coming!  Sun., Sep. 9 we return to 8:30 and 11:00 worship with Sunday School at 9:40. Dr. Frances Taylor Gench, New Testament professor at Union Theological Seminary-Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Richmond, will preach at both services and lead the Adult Ed. class in Heritage Hall. We will begin a new Sunday School year for children and youth.  Plan now to be here!

Have a Seat:  A need for a place for people to sit who are being dropped off and picked up in the front of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House has been recognized. The Facilities Committee has devised a solution. Two benches have been installed and secured to the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. Each bench will be marked with a metal plaque. The first bench plaque will be in honor of The Founding Fathers of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. The second bench plaque is to be in honor of the 1949 Charter Members of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House. This project is being underwritten by the SPIRIT Organization with proceeds from the sale of the book “A Letter to My Loved Ones,” by the Reverend and Mrs. Millard M. Stephens.
