Christian Education. (9:40 am)

Children’s Education –This is the last day of Sunday School until Sep 9, 2007. SS Children will be exploring the church campus on this Sunday.

Vacation Bible School – Registration forms are now available in the narthex, the church office, the Educations Building, and our church website. The deadline for registration is May 31, 2007

Adult Education (Full course descriptions are in the brochures in the friendship pads in your pew).

Heritage Hall: When the Church Speaks: Raising and Addressing Issues for Advocacy by Our church. Marsh Rhea will facilitate discussion of various topics proposed by class attendees.

Tuesday Night Bible Study: Study the Letter to the Galations on Tuesday Evenings at 7:30 in Flounder 1b.

Inquirer’s Class: Scheduled for Jane 3 and 10 from 8:30-9:45 am in Fellowship Hall. These sessions are designed for those considering membership in the Meeting House, or who have recently joined the church.

Fellowship, Study, and Prayer Groups:

Youth: No Youth meeting this Sunday. Adults are still needed to chaperone the youth conferences or the youth cannot go. 20s/30s: All in this age group are welcome to join us for the Monday night dinner and discussion (except 2nd Mondays), First Sunday Brunch, and other occasional social events. The discussion this Monday night will focus on the film An Inconvenient Truth: Facts About Global Warming. First Sundays with the Stephen Ministers: An informal time of fellowship following the 11:00 am service (the first Sunday of each month) in the Elliot House Parlor. We welcome all who are experiencing loss or struggling to find joy in their lives to meet, one-on-one, with a Stephen Minister. Call Susan Grandy (703.836.6701) if you have questions.

Celebration! The final event of the season, the Grand Spring Fling Potluck Supper, will occur on May 19 at 6:00 pm in the home of Larry and Jean Rood. Please call or email Jean to let her know what you will be bringing not later than May 16th. Soft drinks will be provided.

Life Line Screening: Sponsored by Spirit in Fellowship Hall this Saturday. Preventive screenings will be held all day that focus on people over 45 who are currently without symptoms for several conditions. Prices are very reasonable.

Community Ceili Dance: June 10 from 3-5:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. Live music by the Irish Breakfast Band. Suggested donation: $5 per person. Refreshments available. All are invited.

 

Mission

Pentecost Offering: This offering will be received next Sunday. The Meeting House designates 40% to ALIVE. The remainder will support General Assembly programs for Child Advocacy and ministries with youth and young adults. Mark “Pentecost Offering” on the memo line and make checks payable to OPMH.

Family-to-Family Mission: This is one of the major mission projects of the Meeting House. Each week our volunteers process and approve some $1,600 to families in financial need. Clients are referred by social workers and checks are written directly to the company to which money is owed. About 100 checks are written each month.

Music:

Concert With A Cause: On Jun 8 at 8 pm, Bonnie Rideout, renowned Scottish Fiddler, will play. Rideout has 13 solo albums, and her CD A Scottish Christmas became a New York Time “Top Ten” Holiday Best Seller. Proceeds benefit the Saint Thomas Church in Pakistan which provide health care for approximately 4000 families in the poor areas of Islamabad.

 

Churchwide News:

Confirmation Sunday: Ten confirmands will participate in the late service this Sunday. They are: Nora Biette-Timmons, Frank Black, Alexis Bostetter, Kathleen Brady, Jaron Drucker, Ryan Chapin Mach, Melissa McClure, Molly McNabb, Sam Roberts, and Taylor Robinson.

Summer Worship Schedule: Beginning May 27, there will be one morning worship service at 10:00 am in the Sanctuary. During Sundays in June and July there will also be an evening service at 6:30 pm in Heritage Hall.
