Our Child Care Ministry is our Baptismal Covenant in action. In baptism we promise to help raise children in the faith. We promise to include them in the church family. We pledge to support and encourage their parents. The nursery is our first point of contact with these children and their families. It is our first opportunity to keep our promises.

September - May, 9:30 - 10:40

Sunday School classes are provided for children from 9:30 to 10:40 am and focus on learning the stories of the Bible.  Please complete a Sunday School Information Form if your child is interested in participating.

Children begin with music in Room 12 with Mrs. Adams (Age 3 - Kindergarten) or in Heaven (top floor of the education building) with Mr. Ellinwood (Grades 1-5). Following music, they are escorted to their classrooms for age-appropriate Bible stories and lessons, projects, games, and friendship building. Adults pick up their children in the classroom before worship.

  • Little Stars (3s and 4s):  Room 13
  • 5s and Kindergarteners:  Room 26
  • Grades 1-2:  Room 24
  • Grades 3-5:  Room 20

Little Lambs learn about people of faith from the Old and New Testaments using the Wee Believe curriculum published by the PC(USA).  Stories, crafts, music and play will give them an introduction to God’s people, then and now.

Little Stars are our four-year olds.  This group will continue to learn the stories of God’s people using the new Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum published by the PC(USA).

Children who have turned 5 by September 1, including those enrolled in Kindergarten, will be one group called the 5K’s. Children in first and second grades will meet together. Our third, fourth and fifth graders will comprise our oldest group.  The 5K’s through fifth grade will also use Growing in Grace and Gratitude.

Club 3-4-5 Fellowship Group

Club 3-4-5 is our fellowship group for children in grades 3, 4 and 5. For more information, contact the Chair of Children's Ministry, Jen Crawford.

Children and Worship

Children are welcomed and encouraged to take part in the worship experience. After all, worship is for the entire family of God —including grown-ups. Children’s worship bags are available from the ushers upon entering the sanctuary. During the 11 am worship service a short children’s message is presented at the front of the sanctuary, and children are welcome to come forward to listen and participate.

During the program year (Sept.-May) Bridges to Worship is offered for children age five years old through Grade 3. Bridges to Worship uses the Godly Play model, a multi-sensory program structured much like a worship service with songs, prayers, stories and ritual. Children leave the sanctuary following the Time with the Children to go to Bridges to Worship, which meets in Heaven, the top floor of the Education Building. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child(ren) the first time they attend.

Vacation Bible School at the Meeting House

Each summer the Old Presbyterian Meeting House hosts Vacation Bible School. Our goal with VBS is to share the stories of the Bible with children in our church family and the wider community. We offer VBS for diaper-free children age 3 (by January 31) through rising 5th graders.

VBS activities run Monday through Friday and close with a family picnic Friday afternoon. The morning’s activities include music, storytelling, crafts, games, and snacks.
